Ulcer

Ulcers are lesions or open wounds of the skin that occur when the surface of the skin or mucous membranes die. When ulcers form in the stomach or small intestine, they are termed "peptic ulcers". Ulcers are caused by a build up of bacteria in these areas of the body. Genetics may also play a part in a person's being more predisposed to getting ulcers. A nutritious diet and certain prescription drugs can effectively treat ulcers.
