Stroke
Strokes involve brain damage that is caused by a lack of blood flow, due to a clogged artery or broken blood vessel. Strokes may either involve a blood clot (ischemic) or ruptured blood vessel (hemorrhagic), obstructing blood flow to the brain. A highly dangerous and common killer, strokes are the third most common cause for death in the US. When brain cells are destroyed during a stroke, the associated functions are lost, often leading to speech problems or paralysis. A person may also experience a minor scale stroke, or transient ischemic attack (TIA). These aren't as serious and are usually self-resolving. In order to effectively treat a stroke, proper medicines and injections must be administered within a few hours of the stroke's onset.
