Sleep Apnea

Sleep Apnea is a condition that is often brought on by obesity, when air is prevented from reaching a person's lungs while sleeping. Air that does manage to get through results in snoring. These pauses in breathing can last anywhere from seconds to minutes and can potentially be dangerous, increasing the risk for high blood pressure or heart attack. Heart beats may also become more irregular. Breathing devices, mouthpieces, and surgery can treat sleep apnea.
