Multiple Sclerosis

Multiple Sclerosis is an autoimmune disease that affects the brain and spinal cord, resulting in pain, poor equilibrium, and tremors. Scar tissue builds up around these areas in a process called demyelination, wherein the myelin protecting the region's nerves are destroyed. It is currently believed that genetics, as well as certain yet-to-be-determined environmental factors, lead to such autoimmune diseases. Physical therapy and certain medications can help to treat MS.
