HPV

HPV, or the human papilloma virus, is a sexually-transmitted virus that can lead to warts and/or various types of cancer. There are over 100 different types of HPV, and among these, 30 of them can cause cancer. Many forms are fairly benign: Most sexually active adults will have HPV in their system at some point in their lives. Those with HPV may find cauliflower-shaped warts in and around the genitals. These warts may appear months, or even years, after sexual contact with an HPV-carrying partner. For females, there is an HPV vaccine that can prevent cervical cancers and genital warts.
