Coronary artery disease
Coronary artery disease is the most common type of heart disease, where the blood vessels, carrying blood to the heart, experience a narrowing effect, due to a build up of fatty substances or plaque. When the heart does not receive essential oxygen-providing blood, a tightening of the chest (angina), or a heart attack can occur, which can be fatal. Coronary artery disease can also weaken the heart over time, leading to further heart problems. CAD is treatable with prescription drugs and healthy lifestyle changes.
