COPD

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) involves the narrowing of the airways of the lungs, leading to shortness of breath. A serious lung disease, COPD may also be referred to as emphysema or chronic bronchitis. As the disease gets worse over time, it is considered to be a "chronic" disease. With COPD, the elastic sacs within the breathing airways may breakdown or lose their elasticity, leading to reduced air flow. By becoming more active, avoiding smoking, avoiding sickness through vaccinations, and practicing breathing exercises, COPD can be treated.
