Addiction

Addiction is a neurobiological disorder that is influenced by physiological, nutritional, and environmental factors and is behaviorally marked by obsessive, compulsive, or excessive psychological dependence. An addiction involves the persisting need to use, in order to feel leveled or normal, and an addicted person is unable to cut back or stop contact with the given stimuli. Drug tolerance and physical dependence often accompany addiction, though not all addictions are substance related. Addiction treatment is a sensitive process. There are facilities dedicated to helping people break their addictions, but it is important for an individual to maintain their addiction treatment for an adequate period of time.
