Do You Want to Be an FDA Consumer Representative?

In recent consumer updates posted on the Food and Drug Administration's website, FDA advisory boards called for consumer representatives, inviting interested individuals and consumer groups to attend a free public meeting next Friday, April 30.

CDR Dornette Spell-LeSane, M.H.A., U.S. Public Health Service and deputy director of the FDA's Advisory Committee Oversight and Management Staff says

"You don't have to be a doctor, a scientist, or a health care professional to serve as a consumer representative, but you do need a desire to advocate on the behalf of the public..."

FDA advisory committees include experts and professionals from outside the agency who consult on matters of scientific, technical and policy. These issues include the evaluation of drugs (both veterinary and for human consumption), medical devices, foods and other regulated products. If you are interested in bringing the consumer perspective to the FDA's advisory committees and panels, consult the criteria listed below to see if you meet the desired standards. Location and time information is below.
