Prescription CardsVermillion County Commissioners have voted and passed a motion that will permit them to issue free discount prescription cards to all residents in Vermillion County.  The program is being made possible through a partnership with ProAct, Inc.

The discount prescription cards will provide card users with savings of between 10% and 15%, depending upon the type of medication and the brand name, if applicable.  While the program is sure to be of the greatest benefit to residents without prescription insurance, all Vermillion County residents are eligible to participate.  There are no restrictions on age or income.  The discount prescription cards can also be used for discounts on pet medication.  Countywide offerings of free prescription cards are becoming much more popular in light of the rising costs of medications.

“It did not cost the county anything.  It is an extra benefit” said Commissioner President Tim Wilson.

Vermillion County also supports NACo prescription discount cards, which are provided through the National Association of Counties.  “That may be phased out, but right now they are both still there” Wilson said.

Vermillion County residents should visit ProAct’s website, www.ProActRxSavings.com with any questions or contact ProAct directly at 1-877-776-2285.

According to the website “Since February 2007, 55,347 people have uses the NACo discount prescription card, saving an average price of $11.51 per prescription with an average retail price of $43.47. By comparison, NACo users in Vigo County have saved more than $1.99 million since the discount card was made available.”
