Prescription Insurance Cards It is not always possible to obtain guaranteed acceptance of a prescription insurance card.  Unlike discount cards that are not part of insurance plans, prescription insurance cards require approval from the insurance company.  There are times when one might face an online billing prescription insurance rejection.

When a pharmacist or technician fills a prescription, it must go through an insurance approval process if some form of insurance is used.  The process is typically quite fast and takes only a few minutes at most.  However, there are times when problems arise during the billing process, which can prevent a customer's prescription from being charged to their insurance provider.  The most common reason that a prescription request is denied is that it is too soon to refill the item.  The insurance company will then provide a date on which the prescription can be refilled.

There are reasons this may occur even if the doctor has authorized a refill due to a change in the strength or amount of the medication.  For example, if a doctor decides that a patient must take a higher dosage of the drug, a standard refill could be rejected if the system sees the refill as asking for more pills without clarification.  There is a simple way to combat this issue.  Typically the doctor’s office will be required to contact the insurance provider to explain the change.  Then the patient can receive the new dosage as the rejection is removed from the system.
