Prescription Discount Card The latest in a line of cities joining prescription discount card programs is Hanover Park, IL.  Hanover Park is rolling out the program available through the National League of Cities, Hanover being a member of the League.  Other member Illinois cities using the card are Hoffman Estates, Rolling Meadows and Schaumburg. Counties using the program through the National Association of Counties are Cook, Lake, DuPage and McHenry.

Prescription Card Programs Differ in Choice

The program available to Hanover Park residents is free to residents and has no qualifying components like income, age or existing health coverage.  Residents using the discount card will obtain prescription drug savings that average 20%, and those savings are available across 60,000 retail pharmacies nationwide that accept the card.  Residents of member cities that choose to launch the medical discount card program can use the card if they have no health insurance, a traditional benefit plan or a plan that doesn’t cover all prescription medications.

Along with the program available through the National League of Cities and National Association of Counties, there is the Honest Discount Prescription Card program available through CardStar and its respective mobile phone application.  Then there is the Coast2Coast Rx Cards scheme - a discount prescription card program offered by Financial Marketing Concepts to various cities, townships and state governments.  Coast2Coast offers a financial incentive to government entities who partner with their card.  Coast2Coast pays the government partner every time a resident uses their discount prescription card.  In addition, residents using Coast2Coast can experience up to a 65% discount on prescription drugs.  For any cities and county or state governments interested in launching a prescription discount card scheme, a careful evaluation of discount card programs may be beneficial.
