Prescription CardNational Drug Card (NDC) is a Washington D.C. based organization that was developed to assist people with little or no prescription drug insurance.  The aim of the program is to help those individuals save money on prescription medications.  This program assists people on fixed incomes and limited budgets, senior citizens, Medicare recipients, college students, self-employed business owners, families, and those who may have recently become unemployed or have undergone financial struggles.

Additionally, many cardholders may choose to use the prescription card to receive discounts on medications that are not covered by a current prescription plan.  Some of these items include dermatological work, elective procedures, smoking cessation, weight loss and hormone therapy drugs.  Cards are also available to be used for pet medicines.  One card covers the entire household.  Spanish cards are available upon request.

Consumers that choose to get the prescription card can print one from the company’s website: http://www.nationaldrugcard.com.  There are no enrollment forms to fill out.  The site does not require that the consumer divulge any personal information including a social security number.  The entire process is safe.  The card is pre-activated and can be used immediately.

The company’s website states “Our Free Discount Prescription Card can save 10% - 85% on all FDA approved brand-name and generic drugs.  The card can be used at over 58.000 pharmacies nationwide including: CVS, WALGREENS, RITE-AID, WAL-MART, TARGET, KROGER, K-MART, PUBLIX, SAFEWAY, COSTCO, SAMS and many more including local independent pharmacies and regional chains.”
