RX Card Some people worry about changing pharmacies once they find one that allows them to save money on the high cost of prescription drugs.  However, when the consumer prints out a discount RX card, those worries should disappear.  Discount RX cards are accepted at tens of thousands of pharmacies nationwide.  Using a discount RX card should not affect which pharmacies can be used, as long as the card is accepted at that particular chain or independent store.

Switching Stores With a Discount RX Card

Whenever a consumer chooses to change pharmacies the new pharmacy must simply enter the consumer’s information into the store’s computer.  When the consumer goes through this step, it is important to have on hand the discount RX card so that any and all savings will be calculated appropriately.

There are two options for changing pharmacies when it comes to using the card:

Option 1: the card that was previously created should be kept in a safe place.  The consumer should take the card to the pharmacy.  The discount card will contain a specific randomly selected identification number plus the PBM required pharmacy numbers.  The new pharmacy will input the information into the computer, which is where permanent records are kept.

Option 2: return to the website and print a new card.  This is also a good idea if you will be traveling so that you will have a card available.  This system ensures that the consumer never has to be without the card.
