Medical Drugs Dictionary Finding the best medical drugs dictionary may not always be an easy task. Students in every medically-related profession routinely ask others to name the best medical dictionary for their studies, reference, etc. The answers vary from Taber’s and Stedman’s to Dorland’s, but nobody seems to be able to give a definitive answer. Some say that it simply depends on what you need. All of the major (and minor) dictionaries contain information about prescription drugs, with professional terms and jargon. Some include extras such as specific illustrations and information on equipment.

There is also the question of which is better – a hard copy of a reference book or an online medical drug reference site? Both have their advantages of course. The online references are bound to have more up to date resources when it comes to publishing a prescription drugs list. The sites are also searchable, which saves time and energy over marking and memorizing an index. There are also free sites available, which come in particularly useful for students.

Are There Downsides to an Online Drugs Dictionary?

Some consider the downside to an online dictionary being that you can’t carry it around unless you are armed with electronic devices, which may not always be permitted in certain locations and under specific circumstances. Online dictionaries cannot be dog-eared or highlighted in the same way as a hard copy. The best of both worlds seems to be to use both - a traditional medical drugs dictionary as well as one of the online reference sites.
