It is common to reach for a pain reliever such as Advil to get rid of a headache but be aware that there may be Advil side effects. Advil, a form of Ibuprofen, is one of the over-the-counter drugs that are classified as a Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID).
Why Discuss Side Effects?
Advil is not a prescription drug but regular usage of the product should be discussed with a doctor, particularly if there are other health issues to consider. In general, NSAIDs such as Advil may increase the risk of life-threatening circulation or heart problems, including stroke or heart attack. These risks increase the longer one uses the drug.
Advil should not be taken if the individual has an allergy to ibuprofen or aspirin.
Consult with a doctor or pharmacist before taking Advil if experiencing the following:
· Congestive heart failure, heart disease or high blood pressure.
· History of stroke, heart attack or blood clot.
· Bleeding or blood clotting disorder.
· History of stomach ulcers or bleeding.
· Polyps in the nasal cavity.
· Asthma.
· Liver or kidney disease.
· Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).
Information About Prescription Drugs: It is not yet clear the extent to which Advil can be noticeably passed from a mother to her child during the breast feeding stage as drugs can typically be passed from mother to child via breast milk. Therefore, it is wise to exercise caution before taking Advil or any other NSAID. Additionally, this medicine should not be given to a child without first seeking medical advice, as a precaution against Advil side effects.
