discount prescription drug list The discount prescription drug list can help educate the nation on the dangers of drug abuse. Sadly, in the United States, the amount of deaths caused by the misuse or abuse of illegal drugs is greater than those suffered from gunshots. Moreover, in over a dozen states, drug-related fatality is also more frequent than deaths resulting from motor vehicle accidents.

A New Strategy for Drug Control

The federal government recognizes that more must be done to combat this growing pandemic and has proposed a new National Drug Control Strategy for 2010 that aims to reduce the supply of illegal drugs on the street and increase info on prescription drugs education.

Headed by Obama-appointed drug czar, Richard Gil Kerlikowske, a Seattle police chief with a 37 year law enforcement career, the new National Drug Control Strategy entails a 13% spending increase on drug and alcohol prevention programs. It also includes a 3.7% increase on addiction treatment. Altogether, this means an extra $15.5 billion will go toward drug control and abuse prevention.

What the Plan Entails

The Obama administration recognizes drug abuse as a serious American public health and safety issue; thus, the plan calls for a comprehensive but balanced approach to drug control that aims to uphold educational programs to inform youth and spread awareness info on prescription drugs.

A local, community-based strategy for drug abuse prevention is being emphasized. This means more parents and doctors will be made aware of the discount prescription drug list. The Obama administration is encouraging doctors to detect the signs of abuse in their patients, and because it’s believed that early drug use is a factor for addiction, parents are encouraged to learn more info on prescription drugs, so their children will be less likely to use drugs later on in life.

Will It Work?

While the proposed action list should help to allay public concerns over what has become one of the greatest dangers facing our nation, the new strategy’s detractors are uncertain if the proposal is doing enough, as the Obama white house will be spending less overall on drug control than the prior administration.

While it’s not likely to be the start of a major revolution, shining more light on the widespread drug abuse problem plaguing our nation can only be of benefit to us in the long run.
